The enjoyment of many peoples pond experience is ruined by the 'all too familiar' green water. Although this has no adverse effect on pond inhabitants, it does make a pond look unsightly. Green water is caused by single cell algae that can flourish at an extraordinary rate. In mid-summer, an algae bloom can ruin a crystal clear pond.

There are many products, both natural and biological which claim to clear the water. However, there is no technology as effective as an ultra violet lamp (U.V.).

There are two different types of U.V.
